From our band director..... Everyone is invited to our Pre-Festival Band Concert on Tuesday, February 25th at 6:00pm at the BHS Auditorium. The BMS 8th Grade Band, as well as the BHS Wind Ensemble, are preparing for our Regional Concert Assessment on March 12-14. We will have guest judges writing comments for each of our groups for us to work on within the next coming weeks. The BHS Symphonic Band will also be performing.We would love to have you attend our concert and support the hard work our students are doing in our Band Rooms.
Some of our BHS National Honor Society members helped welcome students at the elementary, today. Being good role models for our younger citizens is a good way to start the day!!!
Congratulations to Charlie Groves. He is the male winner of the DAR Good Citizens Award for our state, and the first winner that the local DAR Chapter has ever had. Charlie will be honored at the DAR State Conference in Little Rock on March 21st, and is now eligible for the National DAR Good Citizen competition. The DAR Good Citizen award recognizes and rewards high school seniors who possess the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in their homes, schools, and communities.

Last Friday, a group of students traveled to ANC to compete with area schools in several different events.We had several to win or place in these competitions.
Today, BHS seniors were able to visit with school board member, Toby Johnson and BHS principal, Jennifer Blankenship,. They had a Q&A time on rules, policies and other concerns they have. This opportunity is part of our building trust theme among teachers and students.

Students in the French and Spanish Clubs at BHS worked together during the months of September, October, and November to collect more than $750 worth of socks, underwear, and hygiene products for foster children living in Mississippi County. Ms. Wright's science class has recently experimented with The Naked Egg Lab showing them the process of diffusion and osmosis. The shell-less egg represents a cell and its selectively permeable membrane. During this process it releases carbon dioxide which dissolves the shell,leaving only the membrane around the egg.
The BHS Student Council is raffling off a basket full of Chickasaw spirit items just in time for basketball season. Tickets are $5 each and the raffle will end on November 18th.You can purchase at school from Ms. McChristian or any student council member, and you can also purchase one at any home ballgame before Nov. 18. The student council appreciates any support from our students, faculty and community. Items in the basket include:

-Chicks tumbler (with straw)

-Blanket
-Crocheted Chicks Pillow

The BHS music department has been working hard to make us proud! Charlie Groves recently competed and won 2nd chair in the Regional All State Choir competition and will now represent us again in the state competition in February. Also, the Marching Chickasaws received and "excellent" rating at the State competition yesterday in Little Rock. Way to go Chickasaws!!
Members of Mrs. White’s Spanish class had a gallery wall to discuss their “Day of the Dead” exhibits. They gave insightful information on this Hispanic tradition and served Mexican hot chocolatier and cookies.
