“The Civil Rights Legacy” On October 28, 2022 in Blytheville, Arkansas at the Nonviolence Youth Summit, the Arkansas MLK Commission will honor “living witnesses to history” and descendants of civil rights champions who are sharing their rich legacies with the next generation of leaders at an awards ceremony. The recipients will also interact with students in breakout sessions prior to the ceremony.
Donaleigh Abernathy-Daughter of Reverend Ralph Abernathy, close friend and mentor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Author of the book, “Partners in History”
Sara Collins Rudolph- “The Fifth Girl, Survivor of the 16th Street Baptist Church Bombing in Birmingham, Alabama that killed her sister, Addie Mae Collins and four other girls in September of 1963
Dr. Angela Shuttlesworth- Grand daughter of Reverend Fred Shuttlesworth, co-founder of the South Christian Leadership Conference
Mother Annie Abrams, Educator, Mentor to the Little Rock Nine, the first African American students to integrate Little Rock Central High School
Dr. Bernice A. King, along with her co-author, Dr. Kimberly P. Johnson will sign their new book, "It Starts With Me!"

The track on the campus of Blytheville Elementary School will be closed to the community due to construction starting soon. Signs will be posted once construction starts and we will make an announcement once a timeline for construction has been established.

Parent/Teacher Conferences will take place on today, September 13th from 3:30-5:30 PM and Friday, September 16th from 8:00 AM-2:00 PM. September 16th is a non-school day for students. Please make plans to check on the progress of your child during one of these times. We hope to see you there.


School will not be in session for students on Friday, September 2nd due to professional development for teachers and Monday, September 5th for Labor Day. Students will return to school on September 6th.


The first day of school for students in Blytheville School district is Monday, August 8th. We look forward to kicking off a great 2022-23 school year!


Please join us for the Blytheville School District Back to School Bash on August 4th from 10:00 AM- 2:00 PM. The event will take place at the Chickasaw Arena. There will be food, blow ups, and informational booths. We hope to see you there!

On Thursday, April 28th, the Blytheville Board of Education approved the 2022 - 2023 calendar. Students will start school on August 8, 2022. This calendar can also be found on the district website under the events tab.


BHS Principal, Jennifer Blankenship received the Mississippi County Regional Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year Award at the Annual Chamber Banquet. We salute you for your dedication and service to the Blytheville School District!


The community is invited to meet the new Superintendent of Blytheville Public Schools, Dr. Veronica Perkins. This drop-in event will be held at Arkansas Northeastern College in the Nucor Community Room located in the Center for Allied Technologies on April 20th from 5:00-7:00 PM.
